World Cancer Day Celebration

Under the Patronage of HRH Princess Dr Nisreen El-Hashemite, the Royal Academy of Sciences International (RASIT) celebrated the World Cancer Day in Iraq. The Celebration titled “Love Makes Life”, was held at the Children’s Central Hospital in Baghdad, to celebrate the lives of Iraqi children affected with cancer.

At a time when Cancer still remains the leading cause of death among Iraqi Children, our celebration titles - “Love Makes Life” may sound a bit strange, more so as cancer still remains taking the lives of the Children of Iraq. For this reason, it has been a constant endeavor by RASIT and its programs in Iraq to address the burden of cancer, and give support for children, their families, and the medical staff.

HUDA: an Iraqi Child Who Spent All Her Life in a Hospital

Incidences of cancer, deformed babies and other health problems in Iraq have risen sharply because of contamination from weapons, especially depleted Uranium, used in years of war on Iraq. The use of depleted uranium in U.S. and coalition weaponry in the 1991 war to liberate Kuwait and the 2003 Iraq invasion is well documented.

Huda is one of the many thousands of Iraqi children dying because of Cancer!

It is so difficult to find the right words to describe Huda's case or even to write about her.. The pictures will speak out
