Deafness is seen as a low priority by national Governments and intergovernmental organizations.
Our Global Movement and program, “MUTE International,” will form the basis of a new working relationship and collaboration with Deaf- people and associations, by giving them the opportunity to become agents of change.
RASIT’s history, mission, values, and commitment to humanity make us so confident that we can make a difference for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community. This is a big step for us, but we believe it is one worth taking.
I chose “Think MUTE”, as the theme for the program.
In a world full of noises and disturbances, I would like to invite hearing individuals worldwide to be aware of being a MUTE, i.e., Deaf or with a hard hearing problem. It is an invitation for hearing people to get involved with positive attitudes toward deafness and to treat deaf and hard-hearing people with respect, and equally.
Mute International will be the voice of the unheard community (Deaf) in this world. We will bring deaf people forward in all socio-economic sustainable development programs.
We will work with the International Community to ensure that Deaf individuals enjoy equal rights in education, health, and employment, among others, and further to give them a chair on the policy- and decision-making table.
Together, we can make a difference.... Let’s Think Mute!
