As mandated in its constitution of 1968, the Intergenerational Dialogues program was launched by the late HRH Prince Mohammad bin King Faisal (I) of Iraq El-Hashemite in 1978 to bridge different generations and share their views and experiences.
The program “Generations Dialogue” aims to improve the understanding of young people’s sense of what the future holds for them. An innovative approach is designed specifically to open dialogue across traditional disciplines and age boundaries and to bridge the agendas and preoccupations of academics, senior professionals, private sectors, policymakers, and of young people.
The Generations Dialogue inevitably triggers a broader concept of capacity development. It allows Youth to learn from the experience of older people, while the older generations can profit from the Youth’s knowledge and skills, as well as from their energy and dynamic force.
Generations Dialogues identify and define new approaches to bridging the gap between generations in the virtual and the real world. It contributes to a mutual recognition of basic rules of intergenerational dialogue based on understanding and respect.
Whether it is about management, economics, health, democracy, entrepreneurship, education and employment, or environmental challenges such as water, climate change, or biodiversity, every event of the Generations Dialogue has a theme based on the priorities of national, regional, and international priorities.
