Based on RASIT’s Founder President, HRH Prince Mohammad Bin King Faisal (I) El-Hashemite, collective data on gender and science education and employment, and social-, economic and political- issues concerning women advancement and empowerment worldwide The Women in Science International League was signed into being in 1998 as an independent international Program of RASIT.


The League is dedicated to promoting excellence in education and science and plays an influential role in regional and international higher education policy and supports developments Women in Science in a wide range of ways.
The League is a platform for knowledge, advocacy and accountability to improve and develop the status of women in science. It enables members to share strategies, align objectives and resources, and agree on interventions to achieve more together than they would have been able to achieve individually.


The League plays an important role in facilitating action on many fronts, mainly progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly SDG 5, to ensure gender equality in science education, employment and other social-economic and political aspects. The League’s work is based on key priorities supporting all members to achieve better outcomes for women and girls in science across all disciplines and employment sectors.


Working for positive system transformation, the League strives to ensure that all women in STEAM fields can achieve their full potential.

at the United Nations



With RASIT’s presence at the United Nations, we have been writing future history, and the #February11 is part of our idea of creating history sooner and not later.



The League works at the nexus of STEAM and gender to provide high quality policy solutions and recommendations to broadening participation of women across all disciplines by maintaining visibility of women in science issues in policy and development international forums and promote consensus on evidence-based policy development and implementation (including strategic priorities and alignment of resources).
The League plays a central role in facilitating joint action on many fronts, mainly progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG5), to ensure gender equality in STEAM, and through support for a Global Strategy and Policy framework for Women in Science at the United Nations and its entities.


#February11: The International Day of Women and Girls in Science

The Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT) made history at the United Nations as the first Non-Governmental Organization credited with creating a UN International Day. The United Nations proclaims, “International Days” to “educate the general public on issues of concern, to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce the achievements of humanity. Mainly Member States can formally propose International Days, Years and Decades subject to the approval of the UN General Assembly.

The Directory is a source of biographical data on influential women in all fields of sciences, technology and relevant fields, from around the world.
The Directory, the first of its kind, lists prominent women in science whether members of the league or not.
Including to its many benefits, The Directory aims to: recognize and highlight on women in science in different fields create networking and collaboration between women from North and South to facilitate collaboration and transfer of technology help female students find their role model and mentor andassist policy-makers, media, and other relevant bodies to invite / include women in science whether in roundtable discussions, consultations, or as a keynote speaker.

WOMEN IN SCIENCE JOURNAL




The first periodical for the exchange of ideas, experience, and opinions on any aspect of women in science rights and concerns, and role in socio-economic sustainable development. The Journal is available for scientists, professionals, economists, philosophers, artists, journalists, students, and everyone to publish their articles that highlight this ever-developing issue: the enhancement of women professions and public understanding for women in science rights and concerns and their impact on developing societies and economies.

The Journal was first published in 1999. Per the RASIT Executive Board decision to reach a wider range of audiences, therefore, the Women in Science Journal will be back online from June 2020.



Ignoring the role of women in science in sustainable development jeopardizes the unity of society, harmony and development, and the future of our world.

The Award is a very high honour that is awarded to a small number of women of our world whose impact has been outstanding, sometimes under unusual or difficult circumstances, and who have demonstrated leadership, leaving an indelible imprint on today's societies and accomplishment for future generations to consider.


The Award is designed to recognize and reward the excellence of women’s achievements recognizes the outstanding achievements of women specialized in all fields of sciences and relevant disciplines as well as society’s services, sustainable development programs, and humanitarian relief.


A specially designed honorary Award will be presented as a tribute to the outstanding achievements and contributions of 5 laureates who shall not be selected from the same geographic region.
