The Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT) and AstroAccess, organized a high-level virtual conversation with the 12 Disabled Professional Team prior to departure in their historic Zero Gravity Corporation (ZERO-G) Parabolic Flight, on Sunday 17 October 2021 from 11.15 – 11.45 US-EST.
On 17th October 2021, twelve professionals’ scientists, veterans, engineers, and artists with vision, mobility, and hearing disabilities made history. The Inaugural Zero-G Parabolic Flight #1 aims to advance disability inclusion in space exploration. The disabled Fellows tested the design for accessibility in zero-gravity and high gravity environments and carried out experimentation, data collection, and demonstration tasks. The team sought to assess how the physical environment onboard space vessels could be modified so that all astronauts and explorers, regardless of disability on Earth, can live, work, and thrive in space.
The Zero-G Parabolic Flight Team includes three founding team members of “Writing Science in Braille” Global Campaign: Dr. Mona Minkara, the Director of the Campaign, Mr. Sina Bahram and Dr. Sheri Wells-Jensen.
