Women's Health in Arab States
RASIT’s Executive Director and the Founder President of the Women in
Science International League was hosted on Future Television - a Pan Arab
TV Station, talking “Women’s Reproductive Health and the Healthcare
systems and societies attitude towards prevention programs in the MENA
Region.  Through the interview, Dr Princess Nisreen El-Hashemite revealed
diseases and Syndromes that may lead to women’s infertility, and the
importance of early detection and prevention. Further the Executive Director
highlighted on the lack of countries’ statistics on diseases affecting women
or appears to be more severe in women in the Region, and expressed on
the urgent need for such statistics which will help in drawing healthcare
strategies.  One of the new initiatives in the Women in Science One of the
League’s initiatives in the MENA Region is to focus on  protecting women’s
health and promoting quality of life through the prevention and control of
disease, injury, and disability. Through activities to come, the League is
committed to programs that reduce the health and economic consequences
of the leading causes of infertility, death and disability, thereby ensuring a
long, productive, healthy life for all people in general and women in specific.

On-Line Seminars started in February 2011
A new initiative to help women in science worldwide discusses and
understands a variety of issues without leaving home or work.  The on-line
seminars service is not intended to replace Traditional meetings. Rather, it
is a way to help women in science from around the globe to meet without
any financial costs associated.

International Directory:
The First International Directory of Women in Science contact
information has been established to help communication and
collaboration between women in science and female students
(whether members of the league or not).


Executive Director lectures in Baghdad about Scientific
Research and Women's Health in Iraq: a need or a
necessity.
 
HRH Princess Dr Nisreen El-Hashemite presented a lecture on
women's health related matters titled “Scientific Research and
Woman’s Health in Iraq. Dr El-Hashemite concluded the lecture by
submitting practical strategies to the Ministry of Health in Baghdad.


Women in Science in the United States of America
In 2010, Only 15 of the 72 members elected into the National
Academy of Science (NAS) are women. The percent of women in
the National Academy of Engineering has quadrupled from 1% to
4%.
