Friends Group
The Friends of the Children's Library is a group of people who loved the idea of the library and showed
their willingness to support the project (financially and morally).
Being the first of its kind in an Iraqi hospital, the Friends Group has been established by Mrs. Raya Aassi
(an Iraqi citizen residing in Sweden) to support and promote El-Sharifa Fatima Children’s Library at the
Central Children's Hospital in Baghdad – Iraq.
The Friends, located in different countries around the world, are the voice of underprivileged Iraqi
children suffering from chronic diseases such as Cancer, Renal Failure, Infectious diseases, and
psychological problems and hospitalized for a very long time (at least 25 days).
The Friends group of El-Sharifa Fatima Children’s Library is dedicated to promoting children's interest in
literature, reading, and the use of the library. They endeavor to support the Library in various ways,
including fund raising to purchasing books and equipment for the use of the children, sponsorship of
educational programs and entertaining activities, and to assist the Library’s Volunteers staff who are
strive to give children the gift of literacy, knowledge, and psychosocial support.
With the help of the Friends Group, We will be able to establish Children's Library in different Children's
Hospital within Iraq.
As a member of the Friends of El-Sharifa Fatima Children’s Library, YOU CAN:
1. Participate in programs and special events to support the Children's Library.
2. Increase awareness of the Library's activities and needs.
3. Be the Voice of Iraqi Children
4. Support the Library in developing better services for the children.
