This brave little 5 years old girl was diagnosed with Liver
Cancer. She has already endured two years of
chemotherapy treatments. Through it all, she has a great
attitude and always smiling! Since opening the library, she
enjoyed drawing, coloring pictures, listening to stories, and
learning alphabets.
Last February, Cancer spread in Aya’s body. Chemotherapy
treatment was increased to an extent that doctors could
hardly find veins for IV treatments. She is in pain, cannot
walk or set down. Aya is no longer smiling, she is always in
tears. Two days ago, the doctor told Miss Noof Al-Falahi that
Aya’s days are countable.
The volunteers, who knew Aya for almost 4 months, could
not forget her lovely smile. They decided to celebrate Aya’s
Life, through creating a birthday party for her. They Did it,
and with all her pain, the volunteers made Aya smiles again!

14th February 2010 World Cancer Day Celebration
|
Under the Patronage of HRH Princess Dr Nisreen El-
Hashemite, the Royal Academy of Sciences International
(RASIT) celebrated the World Cancer Day in Iraq. The
Celebration titled “Love Makes Life”, was held at the Children’
s Central Hospital in Baghdad, to celebrate the lives of Iraqi
children affected with cancer.
At a time when Cancer still remains the leading cause of
death among Iraqi Children, our celebration titles - “Love
Makes Life” may sound a bit strange, more so as cancer still
remains taking the lives of the Children of Iraq. For this
reason, it has been a constant endeavor by RASIT and its
programs in Iraq to address the burden of cancer, and give
support for children, their families, and the medical staff.

2nd April 2010 Life in the Drawing of our Children
|
Three months have passed.. Opens 4 hours a day, 6
days a week.. Served more than a 100 child..More than
220 drawings.. More than 55 stories was read.. More
than 70 children learned the alphabet.. and More than
8 Students passed their Mid-term Exams.
As we celebrate the 4th month for starting work in the
Library, we would like to share with you some of the
children’s drawings. These are not just like any
drawing.. Behind each one there is a story showing how
innocent the children are and how much they love life..
Each one of them has the spirit of each child, and each
one has a memory in our hearts.. Some children have
recovered and left, others passed away but the souls of
these angels circling in the library, and others are still
fighting for their lives.
Every Moment in the library is indescribable. Everyday there is a story; most of the times it is full of joy and pleasure
but sometimes with sorrow particularly when of the angels dies.
Apart from the difficulties they are facing everyday in Iraq, the love and care given to the children by our volunteers
are beyond words and description.
